Jordan W. Smoller, MD, ScD
Dr. Smoller is an epidemiologist, practicing psychiatrist, and psychiatric geneticist whose research has encompassed risk prediction, clinical psychiatric research, precision medicine, and suicide prevention for over ten years. His institutional leadership roles include Director of the MGH Center for Precision Psychiatry, Associate Chief of Research in the MGH Department of Psychiatry, co-Chair of the MGH Suicide Think Tank and (with MPI Matthew Nock), co-Chair of the systems-wide Suicide Prevention Task Force for Mass General Brigham Systems Behavioral and Mental Health and serve on the Scientific Council of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Matthew K. Nock, PhD
Dr. Nock is a professor of Psychology and director of the Laboratory for Clinical and Developmental Research in the Department of Psychology at Harvard University. Dr. Nockโs research is aimed at advancing the understanding of why people behave in ways that are harmful to themselves, with an emphasis on suicide and other forms of self-harm. His research is multi-disciplinary in nature and uses a range of methodological approaches (e.g., epidemiologic surveys, laboratory-based experiments, and clinic-based studies) to better understand how these behaviors develop, how to predict them, and how to prevent their occurrence.
